Aftercare for Cupping Therapy
Hydrate!
Drink plenty of water before AND especially after your treatment sessions. Room temperature is the most ideal, but any water is extremely beneficial in flushing out the body helping it prepare and recover from cupping. Really push the water & fluids for 24-48 hours post treatment.
Avoid for 6 hours post treatment
Alcohol, caffeine, sugary foods, and sugary drinks
Extreme heat or cold, steam, sauna, hot showers, and exercise
Is light exercise/stretching okay after cupping?
Yes! Please avoid intense or heavy exercise for 2 days or 48 hours post treatment. Any light yoga, walking, stretching is great post treatment to keep the tissues pliable and blood flowing. As always, listen to your body and if something isn’t feeling like it usually does avoid it until the 48 hours have gone by post cupping treatment.
Avoid for the rest of the day post treatment
Showering, swimming, water therapies. Please shower beforehand and then wait until the next morning to shower post cupping treatment.
Rest & listen to your body
Cupping can be quite intense your first time. Schedule your session so that you are able to take it easy afterwards and relax. Keep yourself warm and try to avoid direct A/C or cold/drafty areas. Taking it easy can be hard for busy bodies, but do your best to check in with yourself and be honest with how you are feeling and what your body best needs. Please always ask your practitioner any questions you may have post treatment.
